This policy explains what personal information the Nel Dorpers website collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet our obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
The responsible party is Nel Dorpers, Strydpoort, Aliwal-North, 9750, South Africa. Any question about this policy or about information we hold can be sent to info@neldorpers.com or phoned through on 0027 51 634 1083.
The enquiry form on our contact page asks for your name, your email address, an optional phone number, and your message. When you submit it we also record the date and time and the IP address the enquiry came from, which helps us identify automated spam.
That enquiry is emailed straight to our own mailbox. It is not stored in a database on this website, and it is not passed to any mailing list or advertising service. We use it only to answer you and to keep a record of what was discussed, and we keep it for as long as our dealings with you require and for a reasonable period afterwards.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used – which pages are read, roughly where visitors are in the world, and what kind of device they are on. It sets cookies in your browser and reports to Google, which processes the information on our behalf and may store it outside South Africa. We see summary reports only; we cannot identify you personally from them.
Our contact page also embeds a Google map showing where the farm is. Loading that map is a request to Google, so Google may set cookies and see your IP address when you open that page. If you would rather it did not, most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies.
Blocking or deleting cookies through your browser settings will not stop you using any part of this site.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for marketing. It is seen only by the people at Nel Dorpers who need it to deal with your enquiry, by the company that hosts this website and our email, and by Google in the limited ways described above. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Under POPIA you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, and object to us using it. Write to info@neldorpers.com and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you are entitled to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, whose contact details are published at inforegulator.org.za.
This site is served over an encrypted connection, so what you type into the enquiry form is protected in transit. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold and to limit who can reach it.
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date below.
